Retirement Statistics

Postby TheIceMage » Thu Apr 23, 2009 11:56 am

For a while now, I've been pulling orcs out of the population as they reach 9 seasons and are let go by a team, effectively "retiring" them from active play. Here are some statistics around that.

By far, the most often-retired player is a Center. Next is Wing, then Defense, then Goalie. This mirrors how much play time is required to advance a season (C 200, W 250, D 300, G 450). Could it be that these numbers need to be adjusted? I don't think so. I actually did this by design.

Retirement Graph by Position:
::train:: ::train:: ::train:: ::train:: ::train:: ::train:: ::zzz:: Centers
::train:: ::train:: ::train:: ::train:: ::train:: ::zzz:: Wings
::train:: ::train:: ::train:: ::zzz:: Defense
::train:: ::train:: ::zzz:: Goalie

There are also 25 orcs who prematurely retired (with 8 or fewer seasons). I'm not sure why. I don't remember pulling them for any particular reason.

Retirement age by position:
Center: Min 9, Average 9.3, Max 17 seasons
Wing: Min 9, Average 9.3, Max 12 seasons
Defense: Min 9, Average 9.3, Max 12 seasons
Goalie: Min 9, Average 9.4, Max 13 seasons

Oldest retired orc: 22 combined seasons (17 at Center)

Highest season (C4 W3 D2 G1 = 4):
17: ::cane::
16:
15: ::cane:: ::cane:: ::cane::
14:
13: ::cane:: ::cane::
12: ::beer::
11: ::zzz::
10: ::zzz:: ::zzz:: ::zzz:: ::zzz:: ::zzz:: ::zzz:: ::zzz:: ::zzz::
9: ::zzz:: ::zzz:: ::zzz:: ::zzz:: ::zzz:: ::zzz:: ::zzz:: ::zzz:: ::zzz:: ::zzz:: ::zzz:: ::zzz:: ::zzz:: ::zzz:: ::zzz:: ::zzz:: ::zzz:: ::zzz:: ::zzz:: ::zzz:: ::zzz:: ::zzz::

(Where ::cane:: = 1, ::beer:: = 10 and ::zzz:: = 100)

There are just over 3,000 retirees, leaving almost 95,000 active.

The Champ has come out of retirement for One Last Fight!

This post reminds me of an older thread...

http://www.orcsports.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=284

You and Tuneloon had come up with the workings for a pretty good idea towards the end of that thread, methinks.

Now, to the present subject... What do we do with all of these retired orcs? A challenge, perhaps? Muahahahahaaa!

Eight lucky Overlords could each get a new team with 300000 gold and access to a Homelands that has only retired orcs. We'll call it the ::cane:: Shady Acres Senior Bowl ::cane::, featuring teams like the Fractured Hip, the Gallstones, the Dodgy Hearts, the Aimless Wanderers, the High Blood Pressure, the Macular Degenerates, the Burning Stream, and the Tusks With Polygrip.

I'm sure that the old farts wouldn't mind, as long as they got home in time to watch Matlorc.

That would be a pretty funny league.

If it's any indication, I've moved them to a table called "Coaches." That's not to say I've done anything with them. /sigh
