Wave of Fatigue Overcomes Steal Plates

Postby TheIceMage » Tue Apr 10, 2007 8:14 am

"Man, I'm beat," says Spenidai before falling asleep on the bench again. This sentiment is popular across the entire Steal Plates organization where "practice" is more like "nap time." They are simply trying to do too much.

With 11 wins and 1 loss, they are currently at the top of the standings, but they are followed closely by Brakgwar's Smashers at 10 wins and 2 losses. Can they afford to take a day off? We will know soon, as they plan to rest players tonight against Flint's Kindred (4-8-0). A sneak peek at the roster shows:

Asfapu (#4 in faceoffs, #3 point scorer) ::zzz:: ::beer::
Aysuey ::zzz:: ::beer::
Gysorxe ::zzz:: ::beer::
IDfeelin ::zzz:: ::beer::
Nuxwaduk (#8 in faceoffs, #8 1-point goal scorer) ::zzz:: ::beer::
Oohixme (#10 1-point goal scorer) ::zzz:: ::beer::
Relwonshud (#7 in interceptions made) ::zzz:: ::beer::
Rentzobout ::zzz:: ::beer::
Spenidai ::zzz:: ::beer::

Meanwhile Kzatirfe, looking wide-eyed and energetic, could only say how excited he was to be playing for the first time as the primary backup goalie. "I've been looking forward to this for a couple seasons now. I'm ecstatic to have been given this opportunity to participate." Kzatirfe was remarkably intellectual-sounding, a quality we can only attribute to the fact that he has not yet experienced the agony and overwhelming brain damage that is inflicted during games.

As this story goes to press, the coach is trying to roust the team and get them ready for their 9:00 training session. Of the 35-member team, 28 will be attending training today. Maybe.

After training today, I have 16 orcs with either ::tired:: or ::zzz:: icons. Their combined FATIGUE is 1,109. That's an average of just over 69/100 for each!

At the start of the season, they were guzzling OrcAde and PureAde like mad trying to stay ahead of the curve. Now, I give up. Playing in games, looting and training adds up too fast! Well, that and I ran out of PureAde...

On the bright side, they're bringing home around 2,000 gold a night looting (they all go to the merchant's), and the number of orcs that can train has shrunk a bit since the start of the season as they finish up and have no stat below a 5.

And I'm beating Brakgwar. :twisted:

(I realize now that I've said that I just jinxed the whole team...)

Late Edition:

The first period was enough to make any overlord nervous. The Steal Plates drew first blood with a three-point goal, but the Kindred would strike three times to close the period with a score of 9-3 Kindred.

In the second period, the Steal Plates tie the game with two 3-point goals, only to have the Kindred re-take the lead with a 3-point goal of their own. The Steal Plates' response is weak: a one-point goal that the Kindred answer with a 3-pointer. Score at the end of two: 15-10 Kindred.

Third period begins goal trading. Plates score 3, Kindred score 3. Plates score 4, Kindred score 4. Plates score 3, Kindred score 3. Finally, with two-and-a-half minutes remaining, the Steal Plates score two quick 3-point goals to end the scoring. If you're keeping track, that's a final score of Steal Plates 26, Kindred 25. The Steal Plates pull of a very close win with much of its top line sleeping through the game.

The good news for me is that none of my players will have ::tired:: or ::zzz:: going into my next set of games.

The bad news for me is that my next two sets are against Brak and ICE.

More good news though..... even if I were to lose all 4, I'd still be in third place :-) I'll be curious to see how I come out from these next 4 games, as ICE and Brak end the season against each other.

With any luck, I will be secure in my position by then and can rest my starters.

Yeah, right! I don't want to face Brak in the first round!

Ahh yes, the peaceful sleep of being pummeled into unconciousness. They look so angelic when they are lying face down in mud like giant green speed bumps.

I lucked out. Thank you, Tune!

I was still trying to get my players some rest, so they were unprepared for the first game against Zed's Society of the Dead. Zed is currently in 4th place in this league, and I failed to notice the threat until it was too late. I ended up losing for the second time this season by a score of 13 to 6.

Fortunately, Tuneloon's Thrashers brought home the bacon, beating Brakgwar's Smashers 31 to 29! Woohoo! I keep my 1st place position!

Now I need to start waking up some players...

No problem ICE. Any time I can beat Brak makes me happy (which rarely happens.... not me being happy, but me beating Brak). That's one win in my big four showdown. Curious to see what happens in game two of the back to back, as I'm sure Brakky will have some changes up his sleeve.

Don't forget though, you get me for two games next week!!!

Not Much in the Line of Changes i did Move 1 Center but thats about it ...... I expect to win Game 2 As (I know Ice says it doesn't Matter) i have Home field Advantage ...... anytime i have home field i tend to win over Away games when they are close like ours was. OHHHHHHH i also KILLED Pabzintuq who Scored 2 of your 3 point Goals :twisted: SOOOOO with that said We will see how game 2 pans out 8)

Yeah Brak, but I'm used to losing my Centers and Wings in this league. I've got 6 in regen. chamber right now, and 2 will be available for my next game against you, although he's not as good as Pabzintuq.

Should get a front line Center back for the ICE capades, so I hope I don't lose too many more in our next one.
