Sing it, Willie!

In the ground again
I just got pounded into the ground again
I scored some points but it's a loss still in the end
I just got pounded into the ground again

In the ground again
Got two more dead ones after the game again
Won the first faceoff and it's straight downhill from then
I just got pounded into the ground again

Whoa - Gunner's awake! His Mudboggers were able to hand Michael's "Juggernaut" Spikedrivers their first loss of the season! You wouldn't have thought it, given that prior to this game, Michael has scored 713 points and allowed 147 with a perfect 12-0 record on the season, while Gunner has scored 356 and allowed 317 with an 8-4 record. Interesting!

Tuneloon continues through his "easy week" beating id to remain in second place. He's two games out of first, and one game ahead of Gunner.

Daemian's Assassins beat me to put a little distance between us. He's at 8-5, I'm at 6-7. Unfortunately for me, I'm going to lose the next two games to Michael. Daemian gets to take on the newly-confident Gunner, though, so that at least could go either way. After that, Daemian gets a 4-game freeride, and then has to face Tuneloon.

And the final standings are in

Overlord's Team IQ Win-Loss-Tie Points For - Against
Michael's Spikedrivers 90 19-2-0 1069 - 305
Daemian's Assassins 71 15-6-0 816 - 562
Tuneloon's Enforce-orcs 71 15-6-0 785 - 426
Gunner's Mudboggers 66 14-7-0 677 - 458
Brett's Blood Boilers 57 12-9-0 515 - 461
Andrew's Engravers 14 3-18-0 398 - 884
id's idiots 14 3-18-0 276 - 856
Paul's Losers 14 3-18-0 293 - 877

12-9 and not making the playoffs may make ICE feel like his Denver Broncos (or like my local KC Chiefs) this football season. Not a bad season, but just not quite good enough.

Playoff matches are as follows

Michael's Spikedrivers vs. Gunner's Mudboggers
Daemian's Assassins vs. Tuneloon's Enforce-orcs

Gunner has a shot against the Spikedrivers, as he has one of the only two victories against them this season. Gunner will be missing a front line center for the first two games of the series.

Tuneloon seems to have a slight edge over Damien. Tune holds a 2-1 season lead, and will only be missing a 3rd line defender (who is the only casualty in their series), while Damien will be at full strength.

Best of luck next season ICE

Well, the playoffs have begun, and the battle pitting Tuneloon's Enforce-orcs AT Daemian's Assassins was one of the highest scoring close games that I've seen in my orcsports career.

The Enforce-orcs started things quickly, taking an early 5-1 lead in the first 1 and 1/2 minutes of the game. That was followed by a barrage of goals from the Assassins, as they put in 10 of the next 11 goals through the remainder of the 1st period, jumping out to a 21-6 lead.

And things didn't stop there for the Assassins, as they put in 4 of the next 5 goals to start the second period, building their lead up to 31-7 just two minutes into the second frame. But the Enforce-orcs would not give in to the seemingly insurmountable lead. Chipping away at the lead, the Enforce-orcs scored 5 straight points, followed by a 3 for the Assassins. Then 7 more by the Enforce-orcs, followed by a 3 for the Assassins. Then another 7 and 3 trade-off, followed by a 1 pointed to end the 2nd period at 38-27.

Feeling the shift in momentum, the Enforce-orcs continued working their way back into the game, trading 2 sets of 3 pointers for 1 pointers in the first 2 minutes of the 3rd period. With the lead down to 7, the Enforce-orcs went on a tear, firing in 3 3 point goals in 62 seconds to get the lead back at 42-40.

The defenses stepped it up, with no scores over the next 4 minutes, but a 3 pointer by the Enforce-orcs with just over 3 minutes left, would be the last points of the day, and the Enforce-orcs took home a tough road victory with a 45-40 win.

Game two of the series is Wednesday night at 6pm Orc Time.

Be There!!!!

Yeah Brak, I've done a lot of micro managing on this team to get some of my new guys time. My team has 12 members with canes, so I'm having to really work to get other orcs ready to take over. Still have to make decisions on whether or not to roll over some of the canes next season (some I know I will, some I know I wont.... others I'm on the fence).

Unfortunately, I think this series may just be to determine who will be the sacrificial lamb in the finals to Michael's Spikedrivers. I gave him one of this two losses on the season, 36-31 in game 18, but the other two games were 35-16 and 32-22 in his favor, and he just waxed Gunner in game one of the finals 55-1. Gunner is the only other team to beat him. I've got a shot, as both of my losses were not too lopsided, but he's gonna be tough to deny.

Well, game two of the series goes to Damien, as his orcs prevail 38-26.

The two teams battled back and forth pretty evenly through period 1, with the score ending up at 12-12. The second period was much of the same, as Damien led going into the third period 21-20. But this time the 3rd period belonged to the Assassins, as they outscored the Enforce-orcs 17-6 to take game two by a final score of 38-26.

On a down note for the Assassins, 1st line wing Boxysvis was the only casualty of the game, and will not be available for the pivotal game 3. Although he did not score in the game, his 18 minutes will have to fall on someone else. We'll see if the Enforce-orcs can take advantage.

In the other battle, Gunner managed a tie against the Spikedrivers to force a game 3, but came out of the game upset they didn't get the win. A 6 point lead with 2 minutes left didn't hold up, as a last second 3 pointer by the Spikedrivers' Freqdusvis forged a tie.

Both game 3's play out tonight!
