Maybe as long as he's winning games, he'll coast, and come in to micromanage once he makes the playoffs (or is about to be eliminated). Yeah, maybe that's it...

I was robbed!

Dan's Brutal Bashers beat my poor Steal Plates by TWO STINKIN' POINTS today. When did they score those critical points? Take a look at the END of the THIRD PERIOD:

0:26: Faceoff won by Orcmundunt
0:23: Orcmundunt passes to Qygzoeq.
0:19: Qygzoeq shoots and Roknidanub makes the save!
0:15: Orcmundunt shoots...Orcmundunt scores! A 3-point goal!

Lousy stinkin sassafrassin' lucky dad burn firp ding blasted mumble mumble mumble ...

This league is definitely worthy of the Elite moniker... mostly. Here are the standings currently:

Brett's Steal Plates 47 10-1-0 428 - 165
Brakgwar's Smashers 42 9-2-0 410 - 160
Tuneloon's Thrashers 38 8-3-0 340 - 208
Daemian's Assassins 19 4-7-0 310 - 442
Dan's Brutal Bashers 19 4-7-0 249 - 316
Flint's Kindred 19 4-7-0 272 - 361
Zed's Society of the Dead 19 4-7-0 209 - 298
brian's gold-mongerz 4 1-10-0 156 - 424

Brakgwar, Tuneloon and I seem to be headed for a big showdown, but we're not entirely sure which opponent we'll have to face at that time. Four of the other five teams in the league are tied for that spot at the moment!

I did just hand Dan two consecutive losses after his "lucky shot" in our first game. I think I can call us even for now. Daemian was beaten by Zed, tying both of them with Dan, while Flint lost to Brakgwar to join the pack. With a name like gold-mongerz, I think brian is more focused on getting money than glory...

Brakgwar just took over as having the best defense record (fewest points against) because Dan was able to score 23 points on me, and Flint could only manage 12 against Brak.

I still (barely) have the best offense (most points for).

There should be trophies for those at the end of the regular season....

Brak still has the best defense, but I have the better offense, which means the Steal Plates are back in first place!

I would like to thank the anonymous person who erected this sign in my honor. You spelled the team name wrong, but hey! The orcs don't care!

The regular season has ended, and the playoffs are set:

(1) Brakgwar's Smashers
....18 wins, 3 losses
....822 points for*, 263 points against*
vs.
(4) Dan's Brutal Bashers
....11 wins, 10 losses
....489 points for, 511 points against
* best in league at end of regular season

(2) Brett's Steal Plates
....16 wins, 5 losses
....714 points for, 509 points against
vs.
(3) Tuneloons Thrashers
....16 wins, 5 losses
....642 points for, 405 points against

Smashers vs. Brutal Bashers
Regular season games were in favor of the Smashers, 3 games to none, with a combined score of 106 to 37. Dan hasn't scored more than 13 against the Smashers yet, but will need to in order to move on to the finals.

Notable players:
Brakgwar's Lumbagtivs and Hyznoophi together stopped 77% of shots on goal, while Podciro won 208 faceoffs and scored 163 points. Sechjeji, Yaskjizug and Lawusjer combined for 32 knockouts.
Dan's Sneeshikok, Cydukak and Kikxcayak combined for a doubly-impressive 43 knockouts and 59 blocked shots this season.

Game day 2: Smashers 47, Brutal Bashers 12
Game day 12: Brutal Bashers 13, Smashers 14
Game day 13: Smashers 45, Brutal Bashers 12

Steal Plates vs. Thrashers
The regular season games split in favor of the Steal Plates, 2 games to 1, with the third game going to Tuneloon by 1 point. Combined score was 77 to 57. Both teams have proven that they can score goals against the other, so expect a relatively high-scoring match, but those games should be close. Homefield advantage may tip the scales in favor of the Steal Plates, who are well-rested and ready to go. The Steal Plates have the stronger offense this season, but the Thrashers have the better defense.

Notable players:
Brett's Ijkouson and Ned together stopped 79% of shots on goal. They need to be sharp against Tuneloon's Pilave, who is responsible for 217 of Tuneloon's 642 points this season. Tuneloon's three Bees: Besdishdum, Bezwerky and Burmezok, saw to it that his goalies faced 68 fewer shots because they were blocked. His goalies aren't slouches, either, stopping 74% of shots faced.

Game day 6: Thrashers 19, Steal Plates 24
Game day 16: Steal Plates 32, Thrashers 16
Game day 17: Thrashers 22, Steal Plates 21

Good luck to all teams!

Not feeling too great about my chances. You and Brak handled my orcs pretty well in all of our meetings, and I didn't have much trouble with everyone else, so I'm figuring on a third place trophy for my boys.

Then again.... you never know.

The luck gods heard you, but you must've mumbled that last part. In case you missed it, the finals started out with a tie between Brak and me for game 1, and then I took games 2 and 3 more easily than I should have, giving the Steal Plates the ::goldmedal::

What's interesting to note is that after the playoffs and finals were done, the final record of these two teams was:

::goldmedal:: Brett's Steal Plates 20 wins, 6 losses, 1 tie (+942, -662)
::silvermedal:: Brakgwar's Smashers 20 wins, 6 losses, 1 tie (+1005, -433)

Final standings:

::goldmedal:: Brett's Steal Plates 97 20-6-1 942 - 662
::silvermedal:: Brakgwar's Smashers 97 20-6-1 1005 - 433
::bronzemedal:: Tuneloon's Thrashers 85 18-7-0 751 - 523
Dan's Brutal Bashers 57 12-13-0 549 - 650
Zed's Society of the Dead 38 8-13-0 331 - 550
Flint's Kindred 28 6-15-0 513 - 614
Daemian's Assassins 23 5-16-0 563 - 916
brian's gold-mongerz 19 4-17-0 367 - 673

There was quite a drop in records from 3rd to 4th. Who will return for the next elite league?
