which is always why you want to play the top teams right after they face Brak  Now if we could only figure out a way to have Brak play against his own team

WD40 to make things go, and duct tape to make things stop.

Ettiene's lads inflicted some mighty hurt on my team. The healing bill wasn't pretty. But we endured! I'd like to thank 2 orcs in particular: Fuhrgazbo, who got three 3-pt goals in a row in the first period, and Kirabog, who kept us in front with his plethora of stripped balls (I can't remember how many, since it isn't a tracked statistic, maybe 5 or 6) and 74 hits given.

In my game against Bubbauk, he was missing a centre and a defender for most of the game. Wha' happened? I'm fairly sure that we didn't beat them into pulp... maybe he didn't set his lines.

Versus the Moops.. well, it was an exciting game with an exciting comeback on my part and we lost by 1 bloody point.

Thus endeth the update on my end. Onward with cautious optimism (or delusions of grandeur, your choice) to face the Steal Plates!

Biding.

45 - 12. Huh.

Well, I guess.. sometimes you get the bear, and sometimes the bear rips your brains out your ass.

What can I say in the face of such an abysmal performance? The truth: I'm trying to give my new guys some playing time. My 3-pt goalie was a complete rookie, and boy.. did he look like it out there or what? 22 shots faced, 9 saves.

Just bide your time, Dizzy. Bide. Your. Time. It's not over yet.

I sometimes give rookies a chance in goal, but I make sure someone's tolerance is high enough that they don't play the whole game.

Dizzy's got 4th - I never did fix the standings page to respect "points for."

Postby Dizzy » Thu Aug 28, 2008 9:31 pm

YAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!

<pant> <pant>

YYYEEEEEAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHH!!!!

Two 3-point goals in the last minute saved us! I was yelling and pointing frantically at the screen the whole way! I was all like "We're down by 4 so you win this bloody faceoff! GOOD! Now score that bad boy! YAY! OK, now win another! HUWAH! Now score another! OH MY GOD WE'RE IN THE LEAD! Wait.. there's too much time left! YOU WIN THAT LAST FACEOFF! DAMN! Pleaseohplease don't score on my 3-pt goal you donkey-molesting... WE SAVED IT! WOOOOOOOOHAH!!! ME WINZ KTHX!"

(Of course, I was shouting as quietly as possible so as not to wake young Dizzy.)

So, who's next, then? ...What? Oh, for the love of all that is holy.
...What? Tomorrow?

Hey, Brak: that was a good series! One game apiece, and (despite your 5 knockouts against us, all tolled) only 1 fatality for the 'Rippaz. I admit that I gave up watching the second game around the middle of the third period when the score was 35 - 8 or something and your lads were on a scoring rampage. I guess I got a few 3-pointers in the dying minutes to make it a quasi-respectable score.

Kyle, Bubbauk, and Chris have disappeared, and their teams seem to be falling apart a little, from what I see in the Herald. Not that I'm complaining: my remaining back-to-back opponents include this trio, and the standings around 3rd - 5th (Tuneloon, Dizzy, and Ettiene) are getting rather tight.

Like the proverbial kitten in the piledriver.

So! The first round of the playoffs pit Brak (1) vs Tune (4) and Brett (2) vs Dizzy (3). What a smashing good time that should be, eh? Unless one of us pulls off a roaring upset, Tune, I'll see you in the consolation game... and probably a few kittens shy of a meal, too.

...hmm. That last metaphor may have been a bit confusing. I was referring to the distinct possibility that I'll have a few orcs in the blue goo by then.

If there's one thing I've learned: Assume nothing when playing against Dizzy.

Singin' da Green Boy Blues

Postby Dizzy » Tue Sep 23, 2008 7:28 pm

I tell ya. Blowing a lead of around 20 pts, losing the lead in the last 2 minutes, and then having the game end about 5 seconds before we score a 3-pointer and win (optimistically speaking)... man. That just makes you want to find the neighbourhood cat and kick it until it's inside out, then light a firecracker in it, doesn't it?

Anyone?
<sigh>

Congratulations on the win in game 2, Tune. As much as I really don't want to play against Brak in the consolation game, I like to cheer for the underdogs. (Go Raiders!)

Summary between Dizzy and me:

After period 1, it was Dizzy 21, Me 7.
After period 2, it was Dizzy 31, Me 18. At one point, it was 28-8 - a 20-point lead.
Third period went like this:
Dizzy 28, Me 27 - I scored 9
Dizzy 35, Me 27 - Dizzy scored 7
Dizzy 32, Me 30 - I scored 3
Dizzy 39, Me 30 - Dizzy scored 7

I then scored 3-pointers at 3:22, 2:19 and 1:45 remaining, making the score a 39-39 tie.

With 1:21 remaining, I got the last 1-pointer of the game, bringing the score to Dizzy 39, Me 40.

Dizzy stripped the ball 8 times, leading to 5 shots (1 blocked, 3 saved, 1 3-point goal = 3 points). I recovered the ball twice after the strip, stripped it back once and intercepted it back once. I stripped the ball 4 times, leading to 3 shots (1 blocked, 1 saved, 1 1-point goal = 1 point). Dizzy stripped it back once. So Dizzy is a better stripper than I am.

Dizzy used 4 goalies. I used 4 goalies. At one point, Dizzy took a shot, my goalie made the save, dropped the ball on the field and walked to the bench. Dizzy's player was stunned for a moment, then picked up the ball and tossed it casually through the 3-point goal.

Dizzy's forwards took 43 shots and scored 15 times (12 were 3-pointers). My forwards took 49 shots and scored 18 times (11 were 3-pointers). With 7 one-point goals, we apparently like doing things the hard way.

Dizzy threw 3 interceptions to my 0.
I dropped 3 passes to Dizzy's 0.

Dizzy blocked 5 shots. I blocked 7. 6 of them were blocked by Rentzobout, a true glutton for punishment.

Dizzy won 16 faceoffs. I won 18. Pretty balanced.

All in all, it was a great game to watch. Thanks!

Was surprised our series was that close Brak. My team has a few canes, but is generally a young team, so they look pretty solid for next season.

Have fun in the finals!
