Wise to the scheme.

Now, now, Brak: you don't fool me. I'm not letting my guard down one iota. If anyone around here can rub two potatoes together to make vodka, it's you, especially when you've got in the vicinity of 240000 gold.

...er, 'cause gold... helps potatoes.. um.. turn into vodka. Catalysis, you know.

<_<

>_>

But I digress. What I meant was that 240000 ain't a bad chunk o' change for acquiring some temporary talent.

Not. One. Iota.

...And now, orc haiku about a promising young pair of Wing orcs ripped prematurely and most rudely from a promising career with the Spleenrippaz. Note the subtle upswing in mood, the building tension, and the hint of oak.

We wuz outbid for
Melaugiz and Melzenzeef
By Tuneloon, dammit.

I picked up 6 on the first auction, and my team is now full. I paid the asking price for five fo those, and my team filled up before I could drive the price up on Leioolostizz for Dizzy. I had three other contingency bids in, and they're all still available.

Game 1 is in the books! Yeah, we lost. We expected to lose. I had filled all three lines almost exclusively with young talent to see what they've got, and I think that I'll keep it that way for a while.

Not that the new guys suck, mind you. I'd say that our final score wasn't too terribly terrible, and, glancing at the Herald, I see that we might have inflicted quite a few casualties had we not been playing against the rock-hard Tanks.

Let's rack up those minutes, 'Rippaz newbies!

Where are you, Timon?

Postby Dizzy » Tue May 12, 2009 8:03 pm

I'm sad to see that the Meerkats have rolled over and died. Normally, that kind of thing is reserved for the Discovery Channel's morbid humanity-is-killing-the-whales-type depressothon. Mikalye's first few seasons were so promising, too.

But now, things are getting exciting -- check out the race for second/third place!

Overlord's Team...................IQ...W-L-T...PF - PA
Tuneloon's Boston Bruisers..19...4-2-0...123 - 72
Kyle's Hammers...................16...3-2-1...103 - 117
Al's One tusks.....................14...3-3-0...105 - 113
Brakgwar's Gold Misers.......14...3-3-0...236 - 107
Dizzy's Spleenrippaz...........14...3-3-0...150 - 123 :)
Ettiene's Pilfering Midas.......14...3-3-0...93 - 121
Sherman's Tanks.................14...3-3-0...108 - 81
Mikalye's Meerkats...............7....1-4-1...53 - 237

Second-best offense! Second-worst defense! You know what they say: second-last is the last of the winners!

Or is that loser-talk?

Al's One tusks........................19...4-8-0...153 - 283
Mikalye's Meerkats.................11...2-9-1...85 - 403

Today's Result: 'Rippaz [18] vs. Bruisers [19]

Gah! A pox on you and your last-minute goal, Tune. I would have been happy with the tie, but noooo. Fantastic game, though, I must say: heart-pounding through and through, right up to the nailbiting finish.

Pox.

I feel good about the next game, though. With some training programs finishing up, everyone coming out of the blue goo, and all our fatigue gone, we'll be better prepared.

In case anyone is curious, our recent climb up the rankings is due entirely to the Rippaz' veteran squad. The rookies, who had bumbled their way to a record of 3-5-0 and 6th place overall, were pulled after a loss to the Tanks, sat down on the bench, subjected to vicious Clockwork Orange headgear, and forced to watch How It's Done. And we almost got away with a fourth victory in a row, if it weren't for that meddling Tuneloon!

Dead orcs score no goals.

Postby Dizzy » Thu May 28, 2009 8:28 pm

Sooooo, Ice: I see that over the past 3 games, your team has suffered 21 KO's, resulting in a present tally of 17 orcs in the blue goo. 'Tis a grave situation. Kyle's Hammers, in particular, offer up some stiff competition.

Three of said Hammers, in a span of 14 games, account for 49 KO's. Let's break that down: F-O-R-T-Y-&-$-#-%-@-!-N-I-N-E. I've seen Leagues end with fewer KO's in the entire Top Ten Bruisers List. Then again, I haven't found myself in too many Leagues against Brak or Ettiene... but it still seems like quite the fantastic statistic.

You know what I think? I think that Kyle would be a pretty fun dude to have on the forums. I think that my investment in 3 suits of Plate armour and my decision to increase Tolerance prior to today's game against the Hammers were wise choices. And finally, I think that it's gonna be a looong week for Ice.

Yeah, apparently "Tanks" is a description of what my team does mid-season.

I didn't do it.

Here's an oddity to ponder:

In the Rippaz' match against the Meerkats tonight, some casualties were inflicted. ("No, surely not!" I hear you gasp. But wait, it gets better!) As per usual, whenever one of my lads gets offed, I am sad. When we repay in kind, I am glad. When I check my Barracks to find that, lo and behold, one of my suppos?d corpses is still (barely) breathing, I rejoice! Tra-l?! ...None of this stuff is odd yet; I'm merely setting a scene that, I'm sure, is familiar to many Overlords.

The oddularity occurred when I checked the Herald to ensure that the Meerkats that we had put down stayed down (..like you do). One skull :) .. two skulls 8) .. three skulls :? ? Quoi? <clicks back to Stats page> Yeah, I thought I only counted two Meerkat deaths during the playback, and only two KO's are listed there. And I KNOW that third casualty was in the game, 'cause he was their starting 3-pt Goalie. But there he is, not one hour after the game, with little X's where his eyes should be.

So wha'happen? Did Guikusis the Obstinate Goalie save that last shot in the first period with his penultimate breath, then crawl on his face while holding his guts in all the way back to his bench and THEN die? Just to deny me my kill? Where's the justice? Where's the beef? Eh? Odditude.

Game 52856, in case you're interested, Ice.

Apparently it doesnt count when a orc is thrown with the match ball. Its considered being a wuss lol Orcs can only claim a kill if they man handle their opponents in hand to hand combat or of course hand to spike
