Shoot me now.

Postby Dizzy » Mon Oct 27, 2008 8:43 pm

That sucked. Ewwwhatprok, that zoggin' wall of an orc, stopped all 21 of my shots at Dushlan's 3-point goal. Irvtutit, my 1-point goalie who is apparently made of foam, missed 10 of 18 shots.

And here I thought I dun purty good in the orc auctions. I can only hope that the poor, unfortunate slobs whom we're playing next (I haven't checked who that is yet) face the full frontal fortitude of our frenetic, fizzy fervor, fired up by the frightening facility with which we were fubared by our first foes.

Fig it.

Dear me, we're bad this season - and after just one minor mistake on rollover ;-)

What does the IQ value mean. It sure isn't a measure of my orcs' smarts...

Overlord's Team.......IQ...W/L/T..PF - PA
Drunk's Rebellion........19 4-0-0 120 - 44
Dizzy's Meathooks.......14 3-1-0 68 - 52
Jayson's Centurion........9 2-2-0 76 - 76 (why is this not pluralized?)
Loki's Latecomers.........9 2-2-0 62 - 51
Otto's Smash(etc.)........9 2-2-0 40 - 58
Steve's Fatboys III.......9 2-2-0 79 - 69
Jumper's House of Pain.4 1-3-0 58 - 72
Mike's T.V.T..................0 0-4-0 49 - 130

That's a bit better, having recovered nicely from the initial loss.

The 'Hooks had been in hibernation for over a year, and I had forgotten that they are not without a strong sense of drama. Those of you who were in the most recent LOCO league may recall a certain tendency of the 'Hooks to pull out some stunning come-from-behind victories and also gain equalling stunning leads and still manage to lose. Well, this season, the team has decided that tension in games sells tickets. In the last two games, the scoring has been minimal (e.g. 1-0 or 1-1) until well into the second period (when the fans are just about to start ripping each others' heads off, they're so on-edge), and then the scoring starts (on both sides), keeping the score nice and tight until the end.

It's games like these that remind me how wonderful this system is, and how lucky I was to have seen Orcsports mentioned... somewhere online... gak.. can't remember how I got here ...:D

(Stay tuned to hear Dizzy rant and curse the day that Ice created Orcsports and the day that Dizzy first came to the site after losing 5 games in a row.)

Dont be so hard on yourself or your orcs.!!! The season has only barely begun and as any Overlord here will tell you it is a LONG season! As Dizzy has just said, each game has its own Drama!

The IQ value is kind of a record of your own wins. 4 points a win, 1 for a draw???? ( I think )

When you log in, click on the Standings button . You'll see a heap of teams based upon their current IQ.......

IQ...

So, the more games an overlord wins, the smarter he must be, right?

And an average (human) IQ is 100, right?

So if you win 21/21 regular-season games, your IQ is 100. Every win is 1/21st towards that, or 4.7619%. But IQ is rounded down when it's displayed. If you get a tie, you get half that, or 2.381%.

Undefeated overlords who win in the post-season are geniuses, by this scale.

We've been tied for first place for a little too long, Dushlan.
GAME 8&9: Rebellion vs. 'Hooks.

This series could set the tone for the remainder of the regular season.
Dig it.

Seems like the upper hand is on the other foot.

Postby Dizzy » Wed Nov 12, 2008 10:47 am

My centre, Gydewee (everyone's favourite punching bag), lasted all of the first sixteen seconds of that game, of which at least five were spent shielding his face and nether regions as he was gang-fubared. When the second KO came at 5:39 to go in the first period, I thought this one was going to be a bloodbath. I cringed with every flurry of punches thenceforth.

All tolled, though, not bad. One of my goalies even managed to block 100% of his shots, which pleases me, considering how our first game went.

So! We're even, more or less. Let's see what happens next...

Overlord's Team....................IQ W-L-T PF - PA
Dizzy's Meathooks.................42 9-3-0 201 - 123
Drunk's Rebellion...................42 9-3-0 293 - 137
Loki's Latecomers..................42 9-3-0 214 - 138
Otto's SMASHINTHRASHERS....33 7-5-0 199 - 153
Jayson's Centurion.................23 5-7-0 200 - 212
Steve's Fatboys III.................23 5-7-0 175 - 203
Jumper's House of Pain............9 2-10-0 140 - 261
Mike's Thames Valley Terror....9 2-10-0 129 - 324

We had a bit of a scare, there, as I was thoroughly handled in back-to-back games by the dirty, rotten computer team known as the Smashinthrashers, and the Latecomers jumped into first place. Rest assured, though, ladies and gentlemen, that Dizzy has the situation totally under control again. Really! No one's even close. Nevermind that Dushlan has more Points For than I have. In fact, they should all just give up now.

Now, new business: Mike, our game today was a little one-sided. Any particular reason that you had only one defender and one wing on your front line? In case you don't watch the playbacks, this omission means that in Periods 2 and 3, you only have 6 orcs on the field instead of 8. (No serious real-life problems, I hope.)

Ah, thanks for the pointer. I usually have problems with the playback and hadn't spotted quite what had happened.

I rearranged my team in a hurry before the game (we've been having server problems at work - so much fun) and obviously screwed something up.

Next time...

Tonight's game: 'Hooks vs. House of Pain.
Result: Easy win for the 'Hooks over a dirty, rotten Computer team that kinda' sucks so we took little pride in the victory.
Interesting Note: Qaaldirazeg (a Meathook Wing with Eek 3, wearing chain armour, and from the Lose clan) took 33 hits and walked out <dun dun DUNNN> completely unscathed: not one tusk chipped, not one broken claw. He even withstood a relentless pounding after the ball went out of bounds and a punch-up ensued. Is he made of stern stuff? Were his assailants stoned? Does he have connections to the Sherpa Queen?
Dizzy's Hypothesis: Dr. Qaaldirazeg, pelted by gamma rays, turns into the Qaal (ain't he unglamarays?)! Stomping through town with the power of a bull, ain't no monster 'round who is as lovable. That ever-lovin' Qaal! QAAL! QAAL!
