Sharks doing well

Postby ettiene » Thu Feb 08, 2007 1:07 am

My sharks are coming along well so far in the season. Standings at present:

Overlord's Team IQ Win-Loss-Tie Points For - Against
Tom's Gyroballers 42 9-0-0 561 - 29
Tuneloon's Spleen Splitters 38 8-1-0 620 - 24
Ettiene's Sharks 33 7-2-0 377 - 66
Kyle's Savages 19 4-5-0 428 - 141
Ink's Waaagh! 14 3-6-0 294 - 146
Marc's Shipton Slayerz 14 3-6-0 393 - 209
Dennis's Warhogerz 4 1-8-0 49 - 935
George Steinbrenner's Yankees 4 1-8-0 0 - 1172

Having just played Kyle(2-0) things are starting to look real nice. Looks like you are spot on so far for playoffs Tune although starting to look like kyle might throw it away. From what i can see he has decent players but without any armor they are getting sent to the regen chamber one by one. Think its gonna be tough for me to beat you and tom though. Both of you look way ahead as far as armor and weapons go. Hopefully in next couple of games i can pick up some stuff to even the odds a bit more

yup, and unfortunately for Kyle he's got his next 2 games against Tom, who knocked out 8 of his players in their last game. He has 12 in the regeneration chamber currently, and only fields 31 total on his team, so he's pretty depleted.

Fortunately for him, he's got two of the low end teams to face in the four games prior to what looks to be the deciding series for the last playoff spot vs. Ink. Will be interesting to see what happens.

I'm doing some cross training now, trying to get a couple of my wings up to level 2 in defense, which should happen in tonights game. My biggest dilema is whether to put my funds into better armor, or start working on rollover. My loan will be paid off after a win tonight against the Yankees (who have yet to score this season).

Hey, Et, did the spreadsheet help at all? I realize it was too late for the draft, but I hope it allowed you to play around a bit.

Kyle is doomed to drop out of contention, due almost entirely to lack of armor. I knocked out eight more in the first game, and he'll have very few orcs left in his next series against Marc, who should sweep.

Armor is the best first investment you can make. It saves healing bills in addition to keeping your best orcs in play. Kyle had a good team, but underarmoring has put him into a huge hole.

Ouch!!! Another record setter. Tom plays Kyle game one = 8 knockouts Game 2 = 8 knockouts Game 3 = Who knows?(start placing bets now). Think tom's players are forgetting to play the game and just choosing who is next... Would be quite interesting if savages were to make the playoffs with about 10 active players. I see kyle is spending money though which is a bit confusing cause not sure on what? Probably training facilities. Doesnt look like its helping though...

Yeah thnx Tom, Spreadsheet is quite nice thing to use. Started with new team now and won quite a bit more bids than i normally get + have more cash on hand to armor up. Must have taken quite awhile to put it together though. looks like some interesting formulas you used there. Have made some alterations to my requirements per position though according to stats i think are required, but you said it wasnt your preference either. Will see how well it works for me keep you updated.

Another benefit i just realized for your spreadsheet which kinda baffled me that i took so long to notice is that you can study your opponents more carefully

Yep, although I find that taking the time to input their orcs (looking at the Herald) is a pain in the butt. I only do it in competitive leagues. In this league, it just emphasized how much better tune did in drafting. He did far better than me on my own *&%^(* ranking system!

And yes, I you should definately adjust the position rankings--I didn't want you give away ALL my secrets...

Got first game new team i created with your spreadsheet tom. Odds looking good. Play Kyle's pound team. His team doesnt look bad although again he opted for no armor as opposed to my teams mostly padded + leather goalies. Could be due to lack of cash though as i see he is low. Will see how it goes. Good luck on setting another record deaths tonight with gyro's. Waiting in anticipation to see how many this time around

Lost my first game to Kyle's pound. Will have to look at how i rate things. Was close though(5-0). His team put a real pounding on me though. Cost required to heal 3182, and i had good armor as well. Not best but didnt expect to healing to be that much. Luckily two days b4 next game otherwise i would have been in real trouble. By the look of it though i have quite a tough draw in this league. Other teams aren't looking bad and play most top teams in first couple of games.

Think he is trying to loot and see how much he can get without competing. Maybe to buy more players in season 2 8)

Update on standings so far this season:

Overlord's Team IQ Win-Loss-Tie Points For - Against
Tom's Gyroballers 61 13-0-0 1009 - 35
Tuneloon's Spleen Splitters 57 12-1-0 1147 - 32
Ettiene's Sharks 52 11-2-0 844 - 69
Marc's Shipton Slayerz 28 6-7-0 611 - 242
Kyle's Savages 23 5-8-0 463 - 276
Ink's Waaagh! 14 3-10-0 305 - 410
Dennis's Warhogerz 4 1-12-0 53 - 1466
George Steinbrenner's Yankees 4 1-12-0 0 - 1902

Looks like Kyle might make playoffs after all. Played first game with armor last night and beat Marc. Looks like a three horse race though. Got 2 upcoming games against marc now and then against tom. Luckily he plays tune right before our two games. No offense tom but i hope tune puts a real hurting on your team. Would give me better chance and need all the help i can get

Caz is an avid Red Sox fan. He despises the Yankees, so he made a team that would get it's butt handed to them every time.

Looks like caz spent most of his money on training facilities though so maybe he is thinking he can get enough cash to be competitive second season and get some better talent or train them up... Crunch time coming soon. Have a few new players since i last played tune and tom. Really good buys:

Gezfaam - Bought 26/1 -
#5 Face-offs
#5 Point scorer
#8 Bruiser
#6 3-point scorer
#4 1-point scorer
# Passes caught

Wizcjurpig - Bought 24/1 -
#2 Goalie (only 21 shots faced so not good comparison yet)

These two "seem" to be really good, but it doesnt take much to do well against weak opposition. Will see how they fare against tune's Joozenrul(who is pretty much scoring every second of the game) and tom's Gywinzbew who looks to be the only player even close to challenging for player of the league. Still not bad to start late and move up rankings like that.
