Two to tango.

In the finals, we have...

MIKE'S BANK ORCO (18-6-0), who have taken on the powerful Newbs in a closely contested three-game series. They have laughed in the face of efficient looting and mild bids, scoffing the Million Gold Challenge approach in favour of the honourable route: fighting, smashing, and clawing their way to the top. Respectable. They face none other than

DIZZY'S MEATHOOKS (21-2-0), of course, or Dizzy would have been too crabby to write this post after losing to the Rally X, who in reality posed no threat and lost both games by an aggregate score of 53 - 13 and suffered 8 fatal knockouts.

Is Mike still angry after that 15-pt turnaround loss in the final 2 minutes of Game 8? Will this game be a shootout...

Top 10 Point Scorers
Mike's Kikxdirai 152
Jason's Wilkoutur 140
Dizzy's Daxdepha 133
Dizzy's Sigdenmalt 131
Mike's Akasym 125
Kewbs's Eggbiphpaf 115
Mike's Tonpebwyn 113
Mike's Fewgova 105
Dizzy's Audangow 97
Otto's Aviohiwiv 95

...or a battle of attrition?

Top 10 Goalies
Mike's Fritzcipix 0.8323
Mike's Gerobiontoad 0.8072
Dizzy's Toiarghaprif 0.8065
Kewbs's Faecademmy 0.7994
Kewbs's Odflulis 0.7923

Dizzy's Hofzenzel 0.7769
arna's Whamfluweege 0.7767
Mike's Widzpien 0.7733
Dizzy's Ficmunzi 0.7699

Sure, those lists have more blue than red, and things may seem to be in blue's favour, but can the Banco deal with this...

Top 10 Bruisers
Dizzy's Chexvaskham 11
Dizzy's Airaz 10
Dizzy's Fekweejiff 8

Otto's Zenumfoil 6
Jason's Junkkidnahvi 5
Dizzy's Degazquet 4
Dizzy's Nyukhixghoyf 3

Mike's Cassdubo 3
Otto's Dezanzes 3
Jason's Audlowsom 2

... plus the 8 other knockouts from the 'Hooks players who didn't make the list?

On Monday, we. shall. see.

Once you cross that bridge, my friend...

Postby Dizzy » Tue Mar 31, 2009 10:22 am

WhhhhooooOOOOOOAAAAaaaa!

I felt like the Headless Horseman chasing down Ichabod Crane as he raced for the bridge in that old Disney Hallowe'en special. The Banko went up 28 - 5 in a relentless scoring frenzy, and then, late into the second period, the 'Hooks came a-chargin' back.

With less than 2 minutes left in the game, we had clawed our way back to 28 - 27. All that we needed was one more 3-pointer on a third-line goalie, but we couldn't (shot blocked)... quite (shot saved)... do it (they're playing catch)... urk. Out of time. Well played, Mr. Mike.

Stay cool, Dizzy: it's best of three. We're not done yet.

Very nice. There was one playoffs tie last night. I was wondering if that's where you were heading.

I'll tell YOU where we're heading... Game 3, baby, and no worse for wear, neither. Five knockouts given over two games and counting. The final battle will be heard for miles around.

<virtual slight head nod to acknowledge da skillz>

Missed it by 'that' much.

Dammit! Lost by 2pts. And we had soooo many chances at the end to score, what with all of the stripped balls, knockouts, blocked shots, and fatigued Banko orcs... there's no excuse. How does that saying go? "Victory needs no explanation. Defeat allows none."

But damn, what a game! The lead changed hands quite a few times, the rumbles around the goals were entertaining, and I cringed in fear as Mike's awesome forwards like Vartusork (whose bid I really wish now that I had won at the start of the season), Kikxdirai, Tonpebwyn, and Akasym did their thing.

I was quite pleased this season with the crew that I shall hereby call the Five Knuckles Of My Fist (Airaz, Chexvaskham, Fekweejiff, Nyukhixghoyf, and Degazquet), having caused 45 knockouts between them and encouraging the rest of my team to chalk up 10 more. Truly, they are 'Hooks through and through.

Good season, Mike, Brett, and Pop. Jolly good.

I was slightly surprised to get to the final, given that the season had been up and down, and even more surprised to take the finals to three games.

My orcs did good, but the early casualties to first line players may have been the kicker as we had trouble getting it done in the third game.

Congrats to all who made it to the play-offs ;-)
